First Raft Wars 2 takes over the #1 spot over Crush the Castle, and now Shopping Cart Hero has rocketed its way up to first place! With 120 average daily plays compared to 75 and 63 for the 2nd and 3rd place games, it is destroying the competition. The question is, as always, can it hang on to that top spot? Keep your eye on SAS Zombie Assault 2–it is on fire and moving up fast! You never know what might happen…

Raft Wars vs Crush the Castle: Fight!

Raft Wars vs Crush the Castle: Fight!

Raft Wars 2 has just unseated the long-reigning Crush the Castle in the most popular game spot on Game Wasteland. The top spots are determined by average number of plays a day, so a game must have continued popularity to maintain the top listing. For the past week, Raft Wars has been absolutely “crushing” the Castle with at its best 100’s of plays a day, and double the average of Crush the Castle. Raft Wars is a newbie on the site, is it just getting lucky? How long can it manage to hang on to the top spot? As for which is the better game… you decide!

Web games among top search terms on the internet

Kid 1: Is our internet back up yet? Kid 2: Nope, guess we have to compromise...

BBG, or Browser Based Games, commonly known as flash games, web games, or online games, have proven to be a huge trend in internet searches since the dawn of the world wide web. Norton (known for their anti-virus software) released a list of most commonly searched terms, and searches for flash games dominated, with 3 related terms in the top 20. While the web game industry is still a relatively unknown and under-researched market sector, it has quickly become dominant, broadly surpassing console gaming. I mean the XBOX360, PS3, and Wii aren’t even in the top 100 search terms! At Game Wasteland alone, the median time spent on the site per day is 30 minutes! Why are they so popular? Well, for one thing they are generally free. They are also convenient and discrete: Your mom/boss/girlfriend/wife will probably take notice if you are jumping up and down with your Wii remote in the living room. But play on your computer screen and quick loading flash games are easy to hide and you look like you’re doing something legitimate. Long story short, thanks and keep playing!

That explains a lot of the popularity of GameWasteland.com. Come play with us!
